Unlike the common perception among the public that pregnant women should eat double quantities of food in order to ensure adequate nutrition for children, the most important is that a pregnant woman on a healthy diet to help prevent fetal exposure to high levels of insulin and glucose, which are two essential to developing diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
